Challenge
Bringing DeveloperWeek’s blue identity into a venue with a visual language of its own. DeveloperWeek New York was taking place at TWA Hotel, where bold red elements, sculptural architecture and distinctive interiors already defined the space. The challenge was to create an event identity that felt unmistakably DeveloperWeek while working naturally within the character of the venue.
Solution
A visual identity born from a reflection. Two months before the project began, a simple experiment with a blue LED light created an unexpected reflection on a wall. A photograph of that reflection stayed on a phone until the DeveloperWeek project came around. That image became the starting point. We upscaled and developed the photograph into a flexible visual system, using its shapes and movement across environmental graphics, signage, digital screens, stage visuals and other event materials. The resulting system allowed DeveloperWeek’s blue identity to contrast with TWA’s red environment while creating a cohesive visual experience throughout the venue.
Result
A complete event identity designed to live within the space. What started as a single photograph became a visual language spanning the entire DeveloperWeek New York experience. Rather than competing with TWA Hotel’s distinctive architecture, the branding was designed to work alongside it — creating a visual relationship between the venue and the event. From one unexpected reflection to a complete event environment. Read the full story in our news section.
