We spoke with Eddy Boyle, Content Director at London Tech Week, about Europe's ambitions for the decade ahead, the challenge of creating value for different audiences under one roof, and why building a year-round community may be one of the event's most important evolutions yet.
1. You've described 2026 as part of a "Decisive Decade" for European tech. What does success for Europe actually look like by the end of that decade, and what role does London Tech Week play in getting there?
E.B.: Success for Europe by the end of this decade means establishing ourselves as a global powerhouse in technology innovation and commercialisation. We're looking at a future where European tech companies aren't just competing, they're leading in critical sectors like AI, fintech, cybersecurity, and sustainable technology. London Tech Week serves as the catalyst for this transformation, bringing together the ecosystem that will drive this change forward.
Our role is to create the connections, conversations, and collaborations that accelerate Europe's tech ambitions. We're not just hosting an event; we're building the platform where the future of European tech is shaped, where capital meets innovation, and where the next generation of global tech leaders emerges.
2. You bring together founders, investors, and enterprise leaders under one roof. But these groups often have quite different interests. How do you curate an event where all three leave feeling it was built for them?
E.B.: The key to serving founders, investors, and enterprise leaders simultaneously lies in understanding that whilst their immediate interests differ, their ultimate goals align - they all want to be part of building successful, transformative businesses.
We've designed London Tech Week as an experience-led event that creates distinct value streams for each audience whilst fostering meaningful intersections. Founders get access to capital and enterprise customers. Investors discover emerging opportunities and market intelligence. Enterprise leaders identify innovation partners and understand technology trends that will reshape their industries.
The magic happens in the spaces between - the networking lounges, the immersive content sessions, the community connections that spark unexpected partnerships. We're not trying to be everything to everyone; we're creating an environment where different perspectives collide productively.
3. When you were building the visual identity for London Tech Week, were you thinking about making it feel more energetic and human, instead of going down the usual cold, corporate tech route? How important do you think an event's visual identity is?
E.B.: Absolutely. Our visual identity reflects exactly what London Tech Week represents - a festival that celebrates technology's human impact. We deliberately moved away from the sterile, corporate aesthetic that dominates so many tech events because technology isn't cold or distant; it's built by people, for people.
An event's visual identity is absolutely critical. It's the first signal to attendees about what kind of experience they're walking into. Our identity communicates energy, innovation, and accessibility. It tells people this isn't just another conference - it's a celebration of what's possible when brilliant minds come together.
This approach aligns with our positioning as part of Informa Festivals, where we focus on creating immersive, inspiring experiences that go beyond traditional event formats.
4. What's one decision you made for this year's edition that felt uncertain at the time, but you believe will have the biggest impact?
E.B.: One decision that felt uncertain but will have the most significant impact was our commitment to year-round community building rather than treating London Tech Week as a single annual moment. We're investing heavily in creating ongoing connections, content, and conversations that keep our community engaged throughout the year.
This felt risky because it requires substantial resources and represents a fundamental shift in how we think about the event. But I believe this is what will truly differentiate us and deliver lasting value. By the time we gather in 2026, attendees won't be meeting for the first time - they'll be continuing conversations, deepening relationships, and building on momentum that's been growing all year.
This approach transforms London Tech Week from an event into a movement, and that's what Europe's tech ecosystem needs to achieve the ambitious goals we've set for this decisive decade.
